A rare example of a limestone sculptural final dating to the 14th century.   Standing at 2 feet tall and with a span of 18 inches wide, this wonderful piece of sculpture would have graced a very grand and important building.   The original weather worn medieval carving can still appreciated, even more so knowing the rudimentary tools available and working conditions that craftsman of the period endured.

In recent years it has been displayed as a piece of sculpture in a garden.

Possibly originating from Dorset.

Measuring:  two feet high, eighteen inches across

c. 14th century
